UNDATED (WHTC) – The college basketball season is virtually over for Ottawa County’s two institutions of higher education after Saturday action.
In Rock Island, Illinois, top-ranked Augustana shot 61 percent from the floor and had a 13-rebound edge in putting away visiting Hope in a second-round NCAA Division III tournament game. Hunter Hill and Griffin Pils each scored 24 points for Augustana, offseing a 20-point operformance by Hope’s Dante Hawkins. The Flying Dutchmen end the season at 24-3.
In Ashland, reserves Lindsay Baker and Taylor Parmley totales 15 and 14 points, respectively, as Grand Valley State’s women downed Saginaw Valley State in a GLIAC tournament semifinal, 76-51. The Lady Lakers, 22-8 on the season, now take on host Ashland in the league final on Sunday afternoon for an automatic NCAA Division II tournament bid.
