HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — The Michigan State Police has announced the arrest of former St. Joseph Country resident William Troy Stanson.
Multiple multiple law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and Mexico teamed up to make the arrest, which happened after Stanson was featured on the TV show ‘In Pursuit with John Walsh’ on Investigative Discovery Network. The show led to a slew of tips to police
The FBI coordinated efforts, obtaining an Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution (UFAP) warrant and getting help fromfrom their Mexican police Baja California, in northwestern Mexico.
Stanson has been on the run since 2015 after being charged with a first degree sexual assault of a minor, a case investigated by the Michigan State Police from Niles, and a Bridgman case in which he’s accused of accosting a minor.

Stanson, extradited to United States today, is headed for Berrien County jail and a court date where he’ll face charges of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, criminal sexual conduct in the first degree, and failure to appear for sentencing on the original charge of accosting a minor.
