WAYLAND, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A former employee of a dollar store in Allegan County is facing multiple charges after being accused of videotaping a minor while they were going to the bathroom.
Police say the recordings of the 10-year-old were taken on June 7th, 2019 at the Dollar General Store on West Superior St. in Wayland.
Investigators report that authorities learned of the incident after the child noticed a cell phone recording them while using the bathroom in the building.
Wayland Police officers searched the home of then-employee Michael Keckler at 119 Pine Street after inspecting the cell phone.
Several electronics confiscated at the location were sent to a Michigan State Police crime lab, where they determined that some of the devices contained between 250 and 300 images of child sexually abusive material.
Investigators say that none of the material seized indicates any actual physical abuse or assault of child or adult victims.
After being issued a six-count warrant, Keckler turned himself into police on Friday, January 17th.
He is now facing multiple charges, including two counts of aggravated child sexually abusive activity, two counts of computer use to commit a crime, and one count of capturing/distributing the image of an unclothed person.
