HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The scoffers may have been proven wrong.
Some had criticized Holland city officials when, in renovating the Civic Center, they went ahead with the installation of a full-service kitchen in the southwest corner of the building, with that criticism stemming mostly on cost. However, that investment appears to be paying off, especially with the pending opening of the “Smoke’N Tulip” eatery that will be set up in the Community Atrium and adjacent porch area in the main east entrance, according to Linda Hart of the Holland Area Visitors Bureau.
“Thank goodness that they went from a facility where caterers can come in and only have staging areas where they would bring in their own hot boxes to a full kitchen,” she said on “WHTC Morning News” during the weekly “Destination Downtown” segment. “It certainly has a benefit in the long run, and it has certainly made the venue more valuable to the types of events that they can do … and it keeps a little bit more change in (the Civic Center’s) pockets.”
The “Smoke’N Tulip” will be open for lunch and dinner on Wednesdays through Saturdays, except when events are taking place, beginning on August 22nd.
