OTTAWA COUNTY (WHTC-AM/FM) — Ottawa County Sheriffs detectives are investigating a car-pedestrian crash near the 5600 block of Port Sheldon Road Saturday.
A Blendon Township resident, 80-year-old Alvin Kunzi, was in front of his home operating a snowblower, police said, when an eastbound red pick up truck appeared to attempt avoiding Kunzi and lost control.
Kunzi was hit by the truck’s passenger side mirror. The truck driver stopped briefly after the crash, then fled, going west on Port Sheldon raod. A witness described the truck as a Red Chevy Silverado or GMC Sierra Pick up, an early to mid-2000 model, with a damaged passenger-side mirror.
Thje witness described the driver as middle-aged, heavy set Hispanic male.
Kunzi was taken to Zeeland Community Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
