EATON COUNTY (WHTC-AM/FM) — Christopher Wayne McMillan, one of three suspects in the cold-case murder of Roberto Higüey Alejandro Caraballo, has an 8:30 a.m. appointment on Friday, April 19, 2019, in Eaton County Circuit Court.
McMillan faces charges of murder, conspiracy to murder and mutilation of a dead body, as do two other suspects, his former friend, Dineane Ducharme, and her mother, Beverly McCallum. McCallum was once married to the murder victim.
Police believe the three killed Caraballo on May 7, 2002, in Charlotte, MI, put his body in a metal truck and burned it, then somehow tranported the metal trunk to an Ottawa County blueberry field, where it was discovered by a farmer.
Caraballo’s body remained unidentified — police nicknamed the case “Jack in the Box,” until 2015, after former Hope College professor, David Shock, produced a documentary on the cold case and someone in Caraballo’s family saw it and contacted police.
