HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Two suspects in a series of thefts are in Ottawa County Jail awaiting arraignment, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Capt. Mark Bennett.
Police were called to West Olive Estates just before 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019, by a homeowner who’d detained a suspect that was allegedly breaking into vehicles parked in front of area residences.
Police found a 20-year-old Holland man being held by a theft victim and some neighbors. Bennett said a second suspect, an 18 -year-old Holland Township man, was stopped while trying to leave the mobile home park in a vehicle, late determined to be stolen.
The victim and a neighbor were hurt while apprehending the first suspect, Bennett said. Police found the two suspects had several bicycles, which were traced to last week’s burglary of Cross Country Cycle in Holland Township.
Bennett said several thousand dollars’ worth of property, including six bikes, were recovered. The suspects’ names are being withheld pending arraignment.
