GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – After two delays, a 25-year-old Holland Township man learned his fate yesterday.
Darveaille Blakeney was sentenced by Ottawa County Circuit Court Judge Karen Miedema to between 18 and 42 years in prison. He pled guilty in November to second-degree murder and felony firearm charges stemming from an October 19, 2016 incident in which 41-year-old Joseph Jordan was shot to death inside of a unit at the Traditions of Holland complex off of 136th Avenue and Quincy Street. Prosecutors say that Blakeney fired several rounds from a nine-millimeter pistol into the victim, who was his mother’s boyfriend, during a verbal argument.
The sentencing had been held up twice this month due to various procedural issues.
