HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC) – A 41-year-old man is dead and a 24-year-old man is in custody following a fatal shooting at an apartment on Holland’s North Side yesterday afternoon.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Detective Captain Mark Bennett, first responders were called to a unit at the Traditions Way Townhomes complex off of 136th Avenue to find the body of Joseph Shatown Jordan with several gunshot wounds. It was determined that Jordan had been in a “domestic dispute” with his unnamed girlfriend and her adult son, who produced a gun and allegedly shot the victim to death.
That unnamed adult son drove off before law enforcement arrived, but he was apprehended without incident about an hour later in the area of East 16th Street west of US-31 and awaits arraignment today in Holland District Court on open murder and felony firearm charges. The matter remains under investigation, and tips to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department or Silent Observer are welcome.
