HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The decision on who will be the City of Holland’s next Chief Executive Officer comes tonight.
With all nine members expected to be on hand, the City Council holds a special business meeting to choose either Novi Assistant City Manager Victor Cardenas or Ottawa County Deputy Administrator Keith Van Beek as the new City Manager. This comes following a closed-door session to discuss some legal and contractual matters involved with the decision. The meeting comes a week later than expected, due to the fact that two council members were excused from attending last Wednesday’s regular meeting, but Mayor Nancy DeBoer took this development in stride. “It was fine that we had a little more time to think about it, to get feedback from people, and to ponder the pros and cons of each (candidate),” she said. “I really think that we have two great people, and so I think that the city is in great hands, either way.”
The special meeting comes following the regularly-scheduled, bi-weekly work-study session at 5:30 PM, in which council huddles with the Holland BPW Board to get an update from the Community Energy Plan Strategic Development Team, as well as reviewing bid results for the city’s refuse/recycling contract, and checking in on the latest developments in the Civic Center Place Improvement Project.
