HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) …and then there were two.
During a two-hour long Friday morning session, a special Holland City Manager Search Committee agreed to recommend to the City Council the names of Victor Cardenas and Keith Van Beek for consideration as the next operational leader of the Tulip City. The Novi Assistant City Manager and the Ottawa County Deputy Administrator, respectively, were chosen ahead of Redford Township Supervisor Tracey Schultz Kobylarz after a final round of interviews yesterday. Amy Cell, who had been retained as an outside consultant to assist in the search, said that “the leadership style that both (Cardenas and Van Beek) have demonstrated in their roles” were factors in the committee’s decision, adding that, “Both of them have had outstanding municipal experiences in different organizations, which gives them a nice perspective, learning new things that they could bring to Holland. I think that their communication styles and personalities really resonated with the search committee, with the interviewers that connected with them, as well as the public that was able to meet them in the ‘meet and greet’ (Thursday).”
The final decision as to who will replace Ryan Cotton as Holland City Manager will come during a special Council meeting on February 28th.
