HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — The suspect who robbed the Macatawa Bank branch at 701 Maple Ave. in Holland Friday, may be the same man who robbed the branch in February, according to a statement emailed to the media by Holland Department of Public Safety on Saturday.
Police were called for help at 4:38 p.m. Friday, and learned that the suspect had entered the bank and demanded money from the tellers, who told police he was holding a small, black handgun. The suspect made off with an undisclosed amount of money, according to the HDPS statement.
Police describe the suspect as a possible Hispanic male with darker skin tone; in his 20’s or 30’s; 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-8; weighing approximately 200 pounds. He was wearing a blue hooded “Michigan” sweatshirt, with yellow on the inside of the hood, a black scarf covering his face, sunglasses, dark hat, black gloves, red T-shirt, and blue jeans, according to the HDPS statement. He is believed to have fled on foot to a gold-colored four-door vehicle, which then left the scene, according to the HDPS statement.
The suspect’s description “is very similar to the last robbery at this bank,” in February, according to police.
