HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The Holland City Council holds its biweekly business meeting this evening.
Among the items on the agenda: Final passage of an ordinance amendment that extends the slow no-wake designation of Lake Macatawa to the western city limits and east to Superior Point. This means that all vessels within 200 feet of shore cannot create a noticeable wake when traveling on that body of water, and craft over 26 feet in length must adhere to this restriction for the entire lake within those eastern and western parameters. The city had petitioned the state DNR about these new regulations a year ago and received that agency’s blessing in late April.
In addition, council will vote on a bid package for the first phase of the Civic Center Place renovation project that would call for partial building and interior demolition, excavation, basement water proofing, and work on steel, concrete and utilities at the site. The 1.5 million-dollar project should begin in early July, with phase two bids to go out at that time, and the balance of subcontracts issued by the first part of August.
