HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 15, 2022) – A cache of one of the more wanted items among thieves was taken from the Holland Motor Homes and Bus Company facility on Holland’s East Side over the weekend.
According to Department of Public Safety Captain Bob Buursma, employees reporting to work on Monday noticed over 40 catalyic converters were taken from school busses parked at the company’s parking lot off of East 40th Street. It appeared that the perpetrators cut the fence to gain access to the property, and the missing parts had been cut off many of the busses.
The allure of stealing catalytic converters has grown over the past 14 years, since a spike in metal prices for platinium, palladium and rhodium that are found inside of those parts made them a valuable target for thieves.
No suspects are in custody, and anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Holland Department of Public Safety (616-355-1150; policetips@cityofholland.com) or Ottawa County Silent Observer (877-887-4536).
