HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Although his body had not been found as of Tuesday afternoon, family members of a 16-year-old Holland Christian High School student missing since being tossed into the waters of Lake Michigan this past Sunday evening have announced memorial service plans.
Riley Hoeksema was with another 16-year-old when their inflatable hull boat turned sharply north of Holland State Park, throwing the two into the waters. The other teen, identified as Levi Winkle, was rescued by a passing boat. Members of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department and other local agencies continued the search for Hoeksma after the US Coast Guard pulled up its efforts on Monday.
Hoeksma’s family will have visitation from 5 PM to 8 PM this Thursday evening at Christ Memorial Church, with an 11 AM service on Friday morning, also at the church.
At the family’s request memorial contributions are to be made to Holland Christian Tuition Grant Program.
