GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) – A 47-year-old Allendale woman accused of not turning her three-year-old daughter to child protective services has been arrested and the girl is safe with a relative.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department believed that Michelle Marie Andrews had fled the area with the child, Arianna Rene’e Andrews, after the woman failed to appear for a Tuesday hearing in family court regarding undisclosed parenting issues. An arrest warrant was issued on Friday morning, and a public notice asking for help in locating the woman and her child was issued.
According to Sheriff’s Detective Captain Mark Bennett, deputies acted upon a tip and located Michelle Andrews in the area of Lake MIchigan Drive and 64th Avenue in Allendale and apprehended her without incident. She was lodged in the Ottawa County Jail on parental kidnapping and obstruction charges. The child was located unharmed at an unnamed relative’s residence in Grand Rapids.
The case remains under investigation.
