RAVENNA, MI (WHTC) – Texting isn’t the only distraction that drivers have to contend with, as a Ravenna woman tragically found out on Saturday.
According to the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Department, the attention of 24-year-old Sara Curtis was momentarily drawn to her two- and four-year-old daughters who were properly restrained in the back seat as she was driving her SUV westbound on Ellis Road. She didn’t stop for a stop sign on Mooreland Road and her vehicle was struck by another SUV.
The collision led to the death at the scene of the two-year-old girl, Alayna Curtis, while Sara Curtis and the four-year-old girl, Bayla Bushman, were treated at Mercy Hackley Hospital and DeVos Children’s Hospital, respectively, and released. The unnamed other driver involved was not injured. Both drivers were buckled up at the time.
The incident remains under investigation, with the case to be forward to the Muskegon County Prosecutor’s Office for review, as is the case with all fatal crash reports.
