GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC) – The heat is on – both in weather and in urgency – for some state road crews along the Lakeshore this week.
Michigan Department of Transportation officials say that a couple of arteries between Holland and Grand Rapids will be affected by short-term work on Tuesday. From 9 AM to 3 PM, lane closures for road work are slated for westbound I-196 between 64th Avenue and Byron Road east of Zeeland, and from 7 AM to 10 PM for eastbound M-121 (Chicago Drive) at 36th Avenue in Hudsonville. Both projects are weather-dependent, M-DOT added.
A majority of road projects statewide will be put on hold, beginning on Friday, for the extended Independence Day holiday weekend. Some efforts, such as the US-31 reconstruction in Holland Township, will still have ramp closures and lane shifts in effect.
