HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – A 28-year-old Holland man is in the Ottawa County Jail on 100 thousand dollars bond following a weekend arrest for allegedly holding up a pizza delivery employee and firing shots at another person.
Aaron Xavier Johnson was arraigned in Holland District Court on one counrt of armed robbery on Monday. He was arrested in the early morning hours of Saturday without incident after separate reports of a hold up in the Meadow Lanes townhomes complex and shots fired in the 800 block of Myrtle Avenue.
In the first incident, a Domino’s Pizza employee had just made a delivery when a suspect approached from behind and robbed the employee at gunpoint of an undisclosed amount of money. The employee was shaken but unhurt, and was able to give Holland Public Safety officers a vehicle and suspect description.
About the same time, the second incident was reported as an uninvolved witness noticed the suspect driving “recklessly” away from the crime scene, followed the suspect to the Myrtle Avenue area, and then was fired upon with two shots that missed the witness. The suspect fled on foot but was captured a short distance away, with a gun believed to be involved in both incidents recovered by officers from five departments who responded.
Detectives are still going over the case, and additional charges may be pending. No date for Johnson’s preliminary hearing was immediately disclosed by court officials.
