POLKTON TWP, MI (WHTC) – A head-on crash Saturday, August 14 on I-96 near 68th Avenue in Polkton Township injured 16-year-old Savanah Lobo from Davidsburg, Michigan.
Lobo was a passenger of Jason Schwerin’s vehicle along with her sister 19-year-old Kaitlyn Lobo.

Brian Buter of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says Jason Schwerin, 19, of Davidsburg was westbound on I-96 in the outside lane when a red TransAm which had been on the inside lane in front of him, cut him off. That action caused Schwerin to lose control after driving off the right shoulder and then re-enter the westbound lane. His vehicle came to rest in front of a vehicle driven by Francis Maslar, 58, of Grosse Isle.
Schwerin’s 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer struck Maslar’s in a head-on fashion in the inside lane says Buter. The red TransAm did not stop and continued westbound on I-96. Francis was not injured in the crash.
Savanah Lobo was transported to Devos Children’s Hospital where she is listed in stable condition. Jason Schwertin and his sister Kaitlyn Lobo were not injured int he crash.
