LANSING, MI (WHTC) – The City of Zeeland will restore and improve four properties in downtown Zeeland thanks to a Community Development Block Grant from the Michigan Strategic Fund.
The facade improvements for the buildings include historic renovations, replacement of windows and doors, roof repairs, energy improvements and more. The completed project is expected to have a significant transformation of downtown Zeeland is expected to serve as a catalyst for future investment says the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
The project will include a private leverage contribution of $254,198 and the city of Zeeland is expected to contribute $9,200 in general funds. They are also expected to approve an additional $88,641 in tax abatements for the four properties.
The $391,419 dollar grant comes from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. The MEDC also gave out grants to three business expansions: National Composites, LLC in Owossa, Cellar Brewing Company in Sparta and MRB Enterprises, Inc.in Mt. Pleasant to support Fifth Third Bank in an increased line of credit. Nearly $14 million in total investment and more than 100 jobs will be created due to the grants including the city of Laingsburg’s $196,995 grant for facade improvements to their downtown.
