HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The start of school Tuesday, September 6, didn’t stop hundreds from heading to Holland State Park to cool off and catch a sunset.
Temperatures were in the upper 80’s at sunset as many swam, walked the pier and played on the new playground and swings. WHTC News caught up with several students including Veronica Gonzales who is a Senior this year at Zeeland West high School. ” It was exciting because it’s my last year. First day of my last year of high school. I’m fine. I’m happy.”
Four teenagers from West Ottawa High School had mixed feelings saying it was hot and the first day was boring.
Another hot day is on tap, but it will cool off by the weekend to the lower 70’s.
The search for a 17-year-old Holland man who apparently drowned in the waters of Lake Michigan last week continued Tuesday.
Marine Unit members of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department were in the waters off of Holland State Park Tuesday after three days of an extensive, multi-agency effort to find the body of Christopher Mimis was called off.
