COOPERSVILLE, MI (WHTC) – Three contract workers were hospitalized following a construction site accident in Coopersville on Monday afternoon.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Dennis Luce, a crew from Woods Carpentry out of Ada, working on a new salt barn at the county road commission complex off of 68th Avenue, were attemping to set 80-foot-long trusses on top of the structure when a gust of wind toppled 11 of the trusses and three of the workers. They fell about 30 to 40 feet to the ground. Other workers quickly responded to the incident, and the injured workers were taken in stable condition to Mercy St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment.
The incident remains under investigation.
