ZEELAND TWP, MI (WHTC) – A 36-year-old Grand Rapids man is in serious condition after a train hit his vehicle Thursday afternoon, September 15, in Zeeland Township.
Ottawa County Dispatch confirms that the crash occurred on 64th Avenue at Chicago Drive around 3:50 p.m.
Angel Rutiaga was stopped on the tracks on 64th Avenue, waiting for traffic to clear when an eastbound CSX train with six empty cars hit his Chevrolet Lumina.
Rutiaga was taken to Holland Hospital with serious internal injuries. The train operator was not injured in the crash.
