HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – A Holland High School sophomore died unexpectedly over the weekend.
According to a news release from Holland Public Schools, Paige Mata is survived by her parents and three older siblings. Holland Department of Public Safety says circumstances surrounding her death are still being investigated and the Holland Sentinel says police believe it to be a suicide.
On Sunday, September 18, students met with support staff and grief counselors at Holland High School. A go fund me page has been set up for funeral expenses.
“The death of a child or student in the school community can raise many different thoughts and reactions. Our district crisis response team has been mobilized and is ready and available for any student, staff member or family who may need assistance this evening or throughout the week. We are also grateful for the support that is being provided to us by neighboring districts and local organizations in our caring community.” the news release said.
