HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – A 24-year-old man is formally facing open murder and felony firearm charges stemming from a Wednesday afternoon shooting in an apartment unit on Holland’s North Side.
Bond was denied during a Thursday arraignment of Darveaille Jamar (DJ) Blakeney. He was arrested on an unrelated warrant about an hour after the incident in the Traditions Way Townhomes complex off of 136th Avenue. During the hearing, an Ottawa County Sheriff’s Detective claimed that Blakeney admitted his guilt in firing several rounds from a nine millimeter pistol into 41-year-old Joseph Shatown Jordan during a verbal argument. The suspect’s mother was the victim’s girlfriend, and she was not hurt in the incident.
No preliminary hearing date before Holland District Court Judge Susan Jonas for Blakeney was immediately disclosed.
