Grand Valley State split a basketball doubleheader with visiting Northern Michigan in Allendale last night. Emily Spitzley scored 16 points and Rylie Bisballe added 14 with 11 rebounds as the Lakers won the women’s opener, 50-42. Behind 22 points from Max Bjorklund, the Wildcats took the men’s nightcap, 85-81. GVSU’s teams entertain the Michigan Tech Huskies at the Fieldhouse Arena tomorrow afternoon.
In state major-college basketball last night, Michigan beat Purdue, 82,58, but Central Michigan lost to Ohio, 81-72. This evening, Detroit is at Youngstown State and Oakland visits Robert Morris.

Ja Morant had 23 points and Desmond Bane added 22 as the visiting Memphis Grizzlies cruised past the Pistons last night, 132-107. Detroit stays home to welcome the Charlotte Hornets to Little Caesars Arena this evening.

Jonatan Berggren’s second goal of the game, coming 16 seconds into overtime, lifted the Grand Rapids Griffins past the Iowa Wild in Des Moines last night, 4-3. The two teams have a rematch at the Wells Fargo Arena this evening.
