HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Talk of renovations of the Holland Civic Center have been circulating for years, but after tonight’s Holland City Council meeting, that talk has come to fruition. The Council approved the motion to select St. Joseph-based Edgewater Resources to draw up the designs for the renovation of the Holland Civic Center.
Edgewater Resources were responsible for the work on St. Joseph’s shoreline, as well as the redesigning of 31st St. Harbor in Chicago. City Planner Ryan Cotton said during the meeting that the goal of the Civic Center Place Project is to benefit the community by enhancing the environment, architecture, parking and the area that the Farmer’s Market inhabits.
Edgewater Resources submitted the low bid of around 170 thousand dollars among the nine proposals received by city staffers. Mayor Robert Vande Vusse also appointed 15 people from the public, various government committees, and four people from Holland City Council to work on the Civic Center Place Steering Committee.
