M-231 Opening Slated for October 30

NUNICA, MI (WHTC) – The fourth motor vehicle crossing of the Grand River in Ottawa County opens next Friday morning. A number of dignitaries, including state Transportation Director Kirk Steudle and former Holland Congressman Pete Hoekstra, will be on hand near Nunica when the ribbon is cut for the M-231 two-lane highway that will connect I-96 with M-45. The seven mile-long project took four years and 200 million dollars to build, and it is meant to alleviate some traffic congestion at the US-31 drawbridge in Grand Haven and the 68^th Avenue crossing in Eastmanville by running adjacent to 120^th Avenue.
