MARNE, MI (WHTC) – A 16-year-old Grand Rapids teen was struck by a vehicle while riding his skateboard in Tallmadge Township on Friday Evening. Andrew Kunzy-Patz was travelling east bound along the travel lane of Hayes St. near 12th Ave. on his skateboard while dressed in all black at approximately 7:15 pm on Friday. 63-year-old Roberta Sheler of Marne was also driving her vehicle in the same direction on Kunzy-Patz, but could not see him in the darkness. As a result, Sheler struck the teenager from behind with her vehicle. Sheler stated to police that she didn’t see Kunzy Patz on the road until the very last minute. Andrew Kunzy- Patz suffered minor injuries in the accident and was transported to DeVos Children’s Hospital. The crash remains under investigation.
