GRAND HAVEN TWP., MI (WHTC) – A 16-year-old Grand Haven High student was treated and released from North Ottawa Community Hospital after he was struck pedaling his bike to school in the predawn hours. Darkness, along with dark clothing worn by Nathan Van Kuiken, apparently kept him from being seen by motorist Karen Keyser as he was on a bike path crossing a service drive on the campus off of Ferris Street. The 48-year-old Spring Lake Township woman was driving at a slow rate of speed, which helped in minimizing the injuries suffered by Van Kuiken. Keyser was not hurt in the collision.
