HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Kids’ Food Basket officials have announced they will hold the 16th annual Gobble Wobble fun run in person this year. They expect 1,500 people to join the run.
All proceeds from this year’s race will go directly to Kids’ Food Basket, according to officials.
“At Kids’ Food Basket, we believe that good food is the foundation of good health. We are further realizing this goal by partnering with our community and other organizations, such as No Surrender Running Club and Hulst Jepsen Physical Therapy, to bring you health-centered events such as Gobble Wobble,” said Afton DeVos, Chief Operating Officer of Kids’ Food Basket. “Join us on Thanksgiving morning and get active while helping to raise critical funds to nourish our neighbors as we enter the holiday season.”
Also returning this year is the half-mile Widdle Wobble! This event is open to all youth and free of charge, at the same time as the Gobble Wobble fun run.
Participants pay 30 dollars to register and get a Gobble Wobble t-shirt and run the race. Registration will stay open until the start of the Gobble Wobble race, but organizers would prefer people to register in advance, online at https://runsignup.com/Race/MI/GrandRapids/KidsFoodBasketAnnualGobbleWobble5k.
Kids’ Food Basket is also actively seeking volunteers on race morning. Register online.
The race is set for 8 a-m on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 25 at East Grand Rapids Middle School, 2425 Lake Drive SE in East Grand Rapids
Race organizers will be closely following guidelines for masking and limiting COVID-19.
Kids’ Food Basket aims to increase access to healthy food for children and families, based on the premise that food is a right, not a privilege.
