BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Around 200 protestors joined workers on strike from Kellogg Company in Battle Creek Wednesday to show some support. The rally was held at Festival Market Square, across from Kellogg’s.
The workers at the company’s Battle Creek world headquarters are among some 1,400 who are on strike there and at three other Kellogg’s locations in the U.S.. The rally was organized by the Michigan American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations.
Workers at the cereal plants began the strike on October 5th after the expiration of their contracts. They are calling for better wages and benefits in the company’s current two-tiered labor structure. Earlier this week, Kellogg officials said they hoped to get back to the bargaining table soon.
Meanwhile, the company has resumed production of cereal at those plants with outside workers and other salaried employees.
