MANITOU BEACH, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A snowmobile crash at an ice fishing festival in Southeast Michigan left one man dead Saturday night.
It happened on a lake in Lenawee County during the annual Tip-Up Festival at around 7:30 p.m. when a man on a snowmobile crashed into a shanty on the ice at Devils Lake. Michigan State Police investigators say the man inside the shanty suffered critical injuries and did not survive. A passenger on the snowmobile driver had minor injuries.
Police Troopers said the crash was not related to the ice as it was thick enough for both activities. Investigations continue and there was no word on what exactly caused the crash or if any potential charges are coming.
