ALLENDALE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Oct. 9, 2026) – Another incident in what has been an eventful six-plus weeks in and around the main campus of Grand Valley State University in Allendale occurred on Thursday afternoon.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with campus police, were dispatched to the Enclave Apartments complex near the 48th Avenue-Lake Michigan Drive junction shortly after 3 PM. That was where one person was stabbed in the hand, and another was assaulted, during the course of what was believed to be a domestic violence incident.
The stabbing victim was treated at the scene for a minor wound and is expected to make a full recovery, while the other assault victim was not injured. State police troopers were able to track down the suspect, who is lodged in the Ottawa County Jail pending arraignment in 58th District Court.
No names were disclosed, and it was not immediately revealed if this incident involved GVSU students. Anyone with any further information on the matter is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office or Ottawa County Silent Observer (877-887-4536).
This incident came hours before new guidelines for on-campus access on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings and overnights were implemented by GVSU officials. That stems from a number of violent incidents that have occurred since classes began on August 31st.
