HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 11, 2026) – The West Nile Virus has come to Ottawa County for 2026.
On Friday, county Department of Public Health officials announced that one person has come down with the mosquito-borne disease. No name, age, gender, or hometown of the afflicted one was disclosed, with the only descriptions put forward was that the person had to be hospitalized, had no recent travel history, and “likely became infected from a mosquito bite in West Michigan.”
As is the usual protocol in disclosing the arrival of illnesses in the area, the OCDPH used the announcement more for describing symptoms, what to do if one is afflicted, and how to protect from being stricken. More details on this aspect of the story can be found here.
