HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 10, 2026) – A growing concern among public safety officials is a growing use of electric-power bicycles and scooters.
This week, the Automobile Association of American issued some back-to-school precautions, as classes begun in earnest following the Labor Day holiday. In addition to the annual reminders about school bus laws and watching for youngsters around school zones, the Auto Club also spotlighted its E-Ride Ready campaign, with a companion online E-Ride Safety Guide download.
The improper use of such devices has been a concern for law enforcement officials such as Police Services Sergeant Jon Boeve with the Holland Department of Public Safety.
Earlier this year, two bills addressing e-bike safety were introduced in the state House, with backers hoping to have it reach the Governor’s desk by year’s end before they are flushed out with the conclusion of the current legislative session.
