OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 25, 2026) – A look into the upcoming budget for Ottawa County government highlights Tuesday morning’s Board of Commissioners meeting.
A public hearing is planned for residents and other stakeholders to weigh in on the proposed $248.7 million spending plan for Fiscal 2027. This includes taking $3.7 million in fund reserves in order to balance the books, but it is about 20 percent below the current $305.3 million budget. No final vote will be taken until the board’s next scheduled meeting on September 22nd.
The governing panel will also receive annual reports from the county’s Community Mental Health and Mental Health departments, as well as from the local Michigan State University Extension Office, and vote on approving the county’s five-year Capital Improvement Plan.
