GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 24, 2026) – A Lakeshore community shocked by a murder-suicide involving a family of eight comes together to grieve on Monday.
An 11 AM public memorial service at Harvest Vertical Church in Grand Haven (12900 US-31) is scheduled to honor 39-year-old Mandy Karolkiewicz and her six children, ranging in ages from 5 to 15, who were slain on July 24th by her 47-year-old husband Kristopher, who subsequently took his own life after setting fire to their home following the murders.
Having a public service such as this is part of the healing process following such a tragedy, according to India Ambrose, Advancement Manager with Holland-based Resilience: Advocates for Ending Violence, the non-profit that deals with domestic abuse matters on a daily basis.
