KALAMAZOO, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jul. 27, 2026) – There’s help still available for those affected by spring storms in Michigan.
There are 27 counties eligible for federal disaster recovery assistance in the aftermath of tornadoes, flooding, and other inclement weather events that occurred between April 10th and the 21st. As of last week, nearly 850 households applied for $7.3 million in individual assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, with over five million dollars paid out to National Flood Insurance Program policyholders, and more than $670,000 distributed in US Small Business Administration low-interest disaster loans.
Danny Bernardy with FEMA’s Office of External Affairs says the application deadline for disaster assistance is August 31st.
