HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jul. 18, 2026) – Although health concerns stemming from this week’s wildfire smoke, which wafted in from Canada and Minnesota to all of Michigan, had cast a shadow, the Outdoor Discovery Center Network was hoping to hold its annual Macatawa Water Festival on Saturday.
From 11 AM to 3 PM at Holland’s Kollen Park, over 20 community partners and sponsors were slated to come together in offering free water activities and educational experiences, designed to engage attendees of all ages in learning to restore and preserve Lake Macatawa and its watershed.
The event comes as officials of the non-profit have made their pitches to local municipal leaders for financial support on the third phase of Project Clarity, now in its second decade of improving the health and clarity of Lake Macatawa and its Watershed.
Lexie Kasper is the Land and Water Outreach Coordinator with the ODC Network.
This third phase is a $7.65 million public-private initiative spread over five years, with CEO Travis Williams asking the Holland Township Board of Trustees last Thursday for a $50,000 annual commitment through 2032.
