Paula Batema (Czinder) passed away on July 1st, 2026. Born August 5th, 1949 in Grand Haven, MI.
Paula was blessed with 39 years of marriage to Steve Batema. They were married in Oswego, NY, in 1986.
Paula, graduated from Spring Lake High School in 1967, where she competed in many roller skating competitions. She was later the sole owner of Petal Palace florist shop in South Haven for 11 years, and also retained her amateur radio operator’s license in 1982 (N8EMV).
She will be missed by her husband, Steve Batema, and her 4 stepchildren, Shane Batema, Shawn Batema, Michelle Batema, and Melissa Hue. along with 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; Cousin Bonnie (Pete) and Dave Koronkiewicz; Sara Koronkiewicz and Ryan and wife Jonie Koronkiewicz; and best friend Nancy Judy.
Paula was preceded in death by her parents Hazel Czinder and Paul Czinder. Paula will be remembered fondly by those close to her for her love of traditions, sense of humor, quick sarcastic comebacks, strength and generosity, and, of course, her walking pharmacy, but above all, she loved and cherished her family, who were her greatest source of pride and joy.
In honor of Paula, the family kindly asks to send any donations or contributions to Hospice of Holland.
A Celebration of Life will take place at the Grand Haven Elks Club located at 15 S 3rd Street, Grand Haven, MI 49417, on August 15th. 2026 from 2pm to 5pm
