ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jun. 10, 2026) – A community split on two high school athletic programs has found a way to celebrate both without offending either one.
Last week, the city of Zeeland unveiled a designed joint logo of the high school’s two mascots that will adorn all of the fire department’s trucks. Mayor Rick Van Dorp explained what led to this community spirit initiative.
Zeeland Public Schools established a west high school campus off of 100th Avenue in 2002, and while both Zeeland East and Zeeland West maintain their own identity, students frequently attend classes in both schools.
