UNDATED (WHTC-AM/FM, May 5, 2026) – A number of ballot proposals are before some voters along the Lakeshore on Tuesday in this first of three Election Days for 2026.
There are two municipal questions for consideration. Zeeland Township is asking for a one mill renewal over a four-year span for fire services, while the Macatawa Area Express Transit Authority is looking to renew and increase its funding to six tenths of a mill through the next five years for operations.
There are sinking fund proposals of 1.25 mills over 10 years for Holland Public Schools, and a half mill over three years for Saugatuck Public Schools. Eighteen-mill non-homestead tax renewals are being requested by West Ottawa, Zeeland, Grand Haven, Coopersville, and Spring Lake schools. Hopkins Public Schools is seeking approval of a $110.5 million bond issue, to be paid off in 26 years with no tax increase levied on property owners.
In-person voting is conducted from 7 AM to 8 PM. Other balloting dates in 2026 are on August 4th for the primary election, and November 3rd for the general election.
