HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 4, 2026) – For the second time in three years, a major construction project should snarl traffic heading into or out of Holland during the Tulip Time Festival.
Beginning on Monday, Holland Charter Township contractors will block off Lakewood Boulevard between US-31 and 120th Avenue, with work slated to run through November 15th. This is “for permitted sanitary sewer improvements,” according to Jason Latham, Executive Director of the Macatawa Area Coordinating Council, the Metropolitan Planning Organization of local municipalities responsible for carrying out a regional transportation planning process.
In April of 2024, state Department of Transportation contractors tore up Business 196 from 104th Avenue west to US-31 in a seven-month-long, 4.5-mile road rebuild that couldn’t be held up until after the festival.
