OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 27, 2026) – A 58-year-old West Olive man was seriously injured after striking a dog with his motorcycle on Sunday evening in West Olive.
No name was disclosed by Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Travis Wheaton following the incident, which occurred around 5 PM on 136th Avenue near Barry Street. The biker was northbound when his machine struck the canine, lost control, veered off of the roadway to the right, and collided with several mailboxes. It was not mentioned whether the man was helmeted at the time.
He was taken to an undisclosed “area hospital” for treatment, while the roadway was blocked off for a couple of hours. The incident remains under investigation.
