SOUTH HAVEN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – South Haven officials have announced the hiring of David Figueredo as the city’s new chief lifeguard last night as they prepare to reintroduce lifeguards to the beach this year.
Figueredo says he deeply respects the passion the community has for water safety and says that commitment is a major factor that drew him to apply for the job.
Several recent drownings prompted officials to bring the lifeguard program back after it was disbanded 25 years ago.
The lifeguards will be on the job starting Memorial Day weekend.
