Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Jones, age 88, of Saugatuck, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026. Betty was born on July 12, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late John Kopacz Sr. and Stella Kopacz.
She spent many years as Assistant Administrator at Douglas Community Hospital and later worked as Executive Assistant for the engineering department at Herman Miller, Inc.
Betty was a devoted parishioner of St. Peter Catholic Church, where she enjoyed helping with and attending the monthly Senior Luncheons. Known for her warm spirit and love of community, Betty could often be seen during the summer months riding her scooter around town and stopping to visit friends. Her home was a welcoming gathering place where friends and neighbors frequently came together. She was a wealth of local information and enjoyed sharing stories and memories.
Family was of the utmost importance to Betty, and love was the centerpiece around her grandchildren. Everything was about Faith, Family, and Friends to her.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Lisa Cruickshank (Brad); her son, Lyle “Butch” Jones (Barbara); grandchildren Cameron Cruickshank, Connor Cruickshank, Alex Jones (Camille), Adam Jones, and Andrew Jones; her sister, Delores Karaus; and her brother, John Kopacz Jr. (Laura). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle Jones, former Chief of Police of Saugatuck, the Love of her life with whom she shared 49 years of marriage
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 19, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, 100 St. Peter’s Drive, Douglas, Michigan. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, February 20, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will take place at Saugatuck Riverside Cemetery, with a luncheon to follow.
