ALLENDALE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 9, 2026) – A 20-year-old Grand Rapids woman was critically injured after being hit overnight on Monday while attempting to walk across Lake Michigan Drive in Allendale.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Cassie Tolman, the unnamed woman was not in a cross walk around 3:15 AM when she tried to get across the divided highway near 52nd Avenue. A 44-year-old Comstock Park man, driving a sedan eastbound, couldn’t avoid striking the pedestrian.
The woman was taken to an “area hospital” for treatment, while the motorist was not hurt. The incident remains under investigation, and anyone with any information is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office (616-738-4000).
