Hope swept a pair of games at Alma yesterday. In the women’s opener, Sydney Vis had 19 points with 11 rebounds as the Flying Dutch prevailed, 69-62. In the men’s nightcap, Orion Yant had 17 points and Parker Hovey added 16 as the Flying Dutchmen were victorious, 80-48. On Wednesday evening, the Flying Dutchmen are at Trine, while the Flying Dutch host Hardin-Simmons at DeVos Fieldhouse in Holland.
Grand Valley State was swept in a pair of games by Wayne State in Detroit yesterday. Taylor Thompson had 19 points, but the Warriors needed two free throws from Jaci Tubergen with three seconds left to win the women’s opener, 78-77. Jordan Briggs had 27 points, including a jumper with 22 seconds left that put WSU ahead to stay, as the hosts took the men’s nightcap, 70-68. GVSU’s teams welcome Roosevelt to the Fieldhouse Arena in Allendale on Thursday evening.
